Oxygen Therapy or Training? BOTH, depending. 

Oxygen Therapy
 is mostly intended to support people with health issues. It is used for people who are unable or unwilling to exercise during oxygen administration. Administration of the oxygen is intended to support or treat a specific medical condition.  The medical issue that invites treatment normally prevents this person from exertion or exercise during oxygen administration.

A hyperbaric chamber is an example of Oxygen Therapy; a person resting in a single or multiple-person hyperbaric chamber. Hyperbaric therapy is medically acknowledged for 14 medical conditions. Hyperbaric chambers are normally used with the intent to treat a specific medical condition.
The mechanism of action is external pressure. Pressure diffuses or soaks oxygen into the person's body proportional to the pressure created by the chamber. The effect is transient because when the pressure releases, extra oxygen is utilized or diffuses out of the body.

The mechanism of action is passive - no activity by the user is required. The person cannot exercise in the hyperbaric because there isn't room inside most chambers.

There are three risk factors with hyperbaric: 

  1. The absence of exertion can permit imbalances in respiratory gas exchange in CO2 and O2. Problems are rare - but can occur in extremely health compromised individuals. 
  2. Too rapid increases or decreases in pressure can cause pain or injury in air-compartments in the body specifically the ears or lungs. Users should not hold their breath during depressurization, just like divers should exhale during ascent.
  3. Nitrogen dissolves into the blood. Medical hyperbaric users are usually advised not to travel by air for 24 hours to avoid the bends.


What really is “therapy”?
That said, breathing oxygen while resting or exercise can also be considered therapy depending on the goal or attitude of the breather. eg: walking uphill in the forest can be therapeutic.  In this case the key is the extra oxygen combined with gentle to extreme movement. 

Oxygen Training uses oxygen to increase the natural physiological effects of exercise.  
The effects of training are a result of the combination of exertion and high Mega-FlowTM oxygen. Pressure that is INCREASED via exercise.
