Core Faculty Member
Earnestine Nix
Grade School Principal retired

I received my Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Special Education; with a minor is Psychology, (UNLV).  I have a Master’s Degree in Education Administration (UNLV). I have earned the hours required for a Master’s degree in Sociology.

I am an indigenous student of the Clark County School District in Las Vegas, Nevada. I have over 38 years experience as an Elementary Principal, Assistant Principal, Administrative Assistant, Classroom Teacher of general and special education students, Track Coach and as a Student.  Member: Clark County Association School Administrators. The National Alliance Of Black School Educators.

Throughout my career I took pride in my ability to manage demanding, high-pressure and confrontational situations, with constricting "breath holding" responses, that gave me the appearance of being in control. Eventually this lead to routine visits to the doctor’s office and the hospital emergency rooms for hyperventilation, chest pains, high blood pressure and migraines. The problem? Stress! Their prescription? Drugs, Counseling and/or Avoidance. An inability to fully accept these prescriptions leads me to www.breathing.com and Mike White's Optimal Breathing School.

Throughout my career I have been responsible for school-wide program assessment, program development, staff development, supervision, and evaluation. I have worked with students, teachers and parents.

It is generally accepted that healthy personalities perform better academically.  I cannot help but wonder how providing instruction in optimal breathing mighty have influenced the full range of behaviors that we label as "problematic" in the formal educational setting. Poor attendance. Poor concentration/study habits. Classroom management. Underachievement. School personnel burnout. Parent burnout. When you consider the extent that the way we breathe interacts with our sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems… Optimal breathing should be a component of school curriculums worldwide.

Currently, I am in the process of setting up an Optimal Breathing Clinic in Tulsa, Oklahoma.   I am also doing research for a book, "Breathing For Optimal Performance" for Educators, Students and Parents as their child’s first teacher".

As ‘Educators’ we empower people, young and older, to take action toward achieving and maintaining healthy life experiences.  Optimal Breathing propels them.   enix1@breathing.com
